Cuffed & Linked..

When I was little my fathor tailored and because of this he tended to wear traditional men's clothing. Cuff Links played a large part in his wardrobe and I have fond memories of playing dress up wearing his French cuffed custom made shirts accessorized with cuff links, tie tacks, pins and play jewelry. My love of cuff links is a result of these memories and I have a number of sets that I still on occassion wear.

Cuff links are a trend that go in and out of men's fashion. In the past I have had to hunt sidewalk sales, consignment shops and second hand stores to add to the collection I "inherited" from my father but recently I was introduced to http://www.cufflinks.com/ .

Organized by color, price, designer, material and even occasion the cuff link options offered by this site are more than a person could ever want to own or even wear.  Here are some that I find tempting..

Trend that Goes Both Ways

Wearing Denim on Denim is back for the masses (that includes you and me). It's been photo'd for a while now and is a trend for both men and women. Clint Eastwood wears it best in the attached GQ cover .

Wearing varying shades of denim is best.  The fit of your clothing is important since you are basically wearing a one color pallet and people are going to be paying attention to the style and shape of your outfit.

Oh..and don't, please don't match your lipstick to your denim.
Thank you.

Men's Accessories Perfect For "Borrowing"

I love men's clothing and accessories and tend to "borrow' what I can from many of the unsuspecting men in my life. Of course I "pretty" them up but some of the ones highlighted in the NY Times this week are fine just as they are....I'm drooling over the studded boots and can see them being worn with a great skirt suit...sigh..sigh..sigh...

Why?

Fit & Tied

The other day I was surfing TVland.com and caught an Episode of The Beverly Hillbillies, a show I have never really had any interest in and, sadly, still don't. I was bored and needed a bit of mind candy and it fit the bill. Just as I was about to switch over to play a game of Diamonds the Jane Hathaway character entered the scene wearing an amazing tie/ascot thingy that pushed her prim and proper 1960s skirt suit to a personalized level that would never have been achieved without it.
I believe the tie worn by the character was an ascot tied with what is called a Ruche knot. I could be hallucinating which is fine because the idea arrived at is always the point. Without luck I searched and searched for an image of that outfit to share, instead I leave you with these and your imagination hoping you will go on a journey of your own as well.

I also found instructions for tying a Ruche knot and now come fall no scarf will be safe! More importantly I can now see the shape of such a tie and am already considering what scraps of silk I will experiment with!
