I love cheese but, like many, hesitate to purchase cheeses I haven't tried or aren't familiar with because I don't want to waste money on the minimum 1/4-1/2lb of surprise. Wholefoods at Houston Street now has a sample basket that boasts a varied selection of 1oz samples of import cheeses that allow you to take them home, try them out and then come back to invest in larger quantities.
Shown are the four samples I purchased for just under $5.00 - Cacio de Roma, a solid regional all purpose mid level cheese, Dubliner Vintage 2 Year Cheddar, Emmenthaler, a Raw Milk Aged Swiss cheese and Australian Chedder..perhaps a bit tame but I can always go back ...
