I really want to place a bench that offers some storage at the foot of my bed but the space between it and the wall won't allow for most of the storage benches I have run across. During my trip to Lowes I ran across a few items that were a step in the right direction.
The first option was a 40" planters box that could be low bench with storage if I add an upholstered hinged top. The wood planters also come in a smaller 14.5" square version that could be used to create great footstools. Two at the foot of the bed would offer portable storage seating. The 40" planter costs about $60 and the 14.5" planter about $30.00.

While in the same section I came across these heavy ceramic pots and immediately thought of what wonderful stools they would make. They are huge. The surface can be sealed and painted and a sturdy upholstered panel cap added they offer a bit of storage can double as replacements for a coffee table. They will cost you around $30 each.
I am still looking for a bench solution that will work well in my bedroom but it was good to dream for a bit.
