Pillow Fight!

I made the pink raw silk slipcovers shown in this picture a few months ago using fabric purchased late last year at a church sale in Croton Harmon New York. Both fabrics shown, about 5-6 yards in all, cost me a grand total of $5.

This May I found very similar silk tie-dyed pillow covers, same size - 17 x 17", highlighted in a magazine that will remain nameless. The pink and blue covers shown are very similar to the ones I made- see scan of magazine page for proof.

It took me very little effort and all of 1/2 hour to make both pillow cases. You don't even need a sewing machine, just a needle, thread and the ability to try to keep a straight stitch. I used GoogleSketchUp to share the easy instructions with those of you who want to have the luxury of beautiful linens and things but can't justify paying $152 for each slipcase as shown in the magazine.
