A Bit of Low Rent Bubbly

Last week I stopped in the local more than 99cents and less than retail priced store. You know the store I type of, the store that started out as 99cents but when the rent increased so did their prices yet they never changed their signs, but even with their increased costs they still beat the local supermarket and "Kmart' pricing but by the time you exit you have spent way more than what you planned on spending to begin with because you bought things that caught your eye but didn't need, things that will end up sold in that sidewalk sale you're planning, but I digress..... I rarely visit the local 99cents plus neighborhood store because it's so uncomfortably overcrowded that there is little room for turning or passing other shoppers but last week I needed packing tape. On the way out I found and bought a bottle of Saint- Geron Naturally Sparkling Mineral Water for $1.29 because I liked the shape of the bottle and thought it would be a pretty addition to my window bottle collection. I was pleasantly surprised that the sparkling water was pretty good, less "gassy" than most, which could have been age?, and mellower in mineral taste than many mineral waters. A tall glass with slices of lemon and lime was the perfect little bit of luxury on Friday evening after work.

Curious I found their web site http://www.saintgeron.com/ and located a number of postive reviews. The one at http://www.finewaters.com/Bottled_Water/France/Saint-Geron.asp stated that "The water has long been recommended as an aid in the treatment of anemia, digestive problems, diabetes and even gout. Its elegant glass bottle was created by painter and designer Alberto Bali."

If you like sparkling water and see this brand, discounted or not (usually about $3.00 per 25.4oz bottle), it's worth a try!
