The 1st Friday in June is National Doughnut Day which originally honored the Salvation Army "Lassies" of WWI and is still used as a fund raiser for needy causes of the Salvation Army. Today is the day to check to see if your local doughnut shop or other organizations are offering free donuts in exchange for donations for the Salvation Army or another needy cause.
